Course Descriptions

Swim:   Course Maps

Iron Mt Man Half - 1.2 miles

Tri Arkansas - 1500 Meters

DeGray Lake Sprint - 500 Yards

DeGray Lake:  rated as one of the top cleanest fresh water lakes in America.  You can drink it..  The Swim is clock wise, with a deep water start.  The Entry and Finish area is on a large concrete boat ramp.   Swim course will close 1 hour and 10 minutes after the send off of the last wave for the Half and 1 hour for Tri Arkansas.  Historically the water temp in mid August is in the mid to high 80's.  If water temp is above 78F wet suit will not be allowed

Iron Mt Man - 56 Miles

 

2 Laps of a looped course

 

Due to Road Construction issues we are being forced to completely change the Bike Course.  The Course will be two laps of a 25 mile route with a 6 mile start leg.  The Course is continually rolling with one extended climb per lap.

 

6 Aid Stations will be stocked with Sports Drink (Gatorade), Water, Banana's and other items as well.

 

The Bike Course cut off time will be at 4 hours from the close of the swim course (approximately 12:30 pm) .  If the competitor has not completed the bike course within the cut off time he/she will not be permitted to continue after racking their bike..

 

Tri Arkansas - 43 Kilometer

 

New Course do to road Construct issues:

Single Lap looped course 

Change in Course distance due to new course.  New Course length is 41K old course was 39K

 

Again due to road construction issues we are needing to completely change this course also.  The 43K route will use one lap of the same course that the Half Iron distance race. This is a looped course, the first and Last 1 mile use Skyline Dr.   There will be 3 Aid stations on the route, stocked with Sports Drink (Gatorade), Water, Banana's and other items as well.

 

DeGray Lake Sprint Tri - 15 Mi

Modified out and back  (looks like a lolly pop)

 

The Bike Course is a deceptively fast.  Large portions of this course are closed to traffic.  If  you take a few seconds along the way you will see some absolutely beautiful vistas.

 

 

Run:  Course Map

Iron Mt Man - 13.1 mile

The Course is a 2 Lap out and back on Skyline Drive.  Aid station will be located at roughly 1 mile increments.  They will be stocked with ice, water, sports drink, energy gel, a salty food, bananas and oranges.  Run course to close at approximately 3:30pm (8 hours from send off of last wave)

Tri Arkansas - 10.5 K

The Course is a out and back on Skyline Drive.  Aid station will be located at roughly 1 mile increments and are very well stocked as they are the same stations being used for the Half.

DeGray Lake Sprint Tri - 3.2 mi

Yes, this is one tough run.  1.6 miles up the side of Iron Mountain and then turn around and come back down.  The view as you cross the DeGray Lake Dam is absolutely incredible.

Aid Stations will be approximately every mile.  They will be stocked with ice, water and sports drink.

Medical:    

We will have a complete medical staff on hand supplied by Baptist Medical Center Arkadelphia.    A mobile field hospital set up near the transition area.. Medical treatment, can be rendered and the athlete may be allowed to continue from where they left the course  However, If a medical professional says your done, that's it your done.
